Bling and roses

Can't go wrong with bling and roses, now can you? I made this card the other night. I have a number of thank you cards needed for gifts and hospitality received during my recent string of travels and I finally started on them with this one. I used a piece of DCWV Ciao Bella paper, which was so lovely in it's own right, some ZVA bling, a Making Memories bling frame, a sticker from the Dollar Store, and a Michael's stamp. I glimmer misted the little background paper for the sentiment and heat embossed the image. All in all, simple, yet still gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

Remember that tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day, so set aside time for yourself to honor this beautiful creative road we are all on.

Cluck- Cluck!!

Do you know a Mama Hen? Someone who always is there when you need her, making sure you have water, a sweater, a few bucks in your pocket? One of those women who seems to anticipate your needs before you do and is already handing it to you as you need it? You love hanging out at her nest cause it is so cozy? Most of us have at least one of these treasured individuals in our life, so here is a fun way to honor her.

Paper Popsicles has the cutest chicken shaped card template in the store. It is new and I love it. I am very fortunate to have a couple Mama Hen's in my life, so I can see a repeat of this design in the future.

Also, in case you have forgotten, or are simply avoiding the fact, Mother's Day is right around the corner. Paper Popsicles has some great new card templates and digital images to honor Mom and to encourage you even further, there is a GORGEOUS freebie AND a contest. So, you get a free image, create a card that you need for Mom, AND get your name into the weekly drawing for a prize. Even Mama would tell you that is too good of a deal to pass up!

LOVE Dear Lizzy and American Crafts!!!

And rumor has it that she will be launching a second phase of her line at CHA in the summer!!! I really cannot wait.

I made this layout of my dear hubby and I for a book call and while I wasn't selected for the submission, I think it is a perfect layout for the challenge over at American Crafts to use the Dear Lizzy line to create a layout or card. There isn't much on here that isn't from American Crafts and Dear Lizzy.

I cut the heart paper into a circle and lined it to imitate the swirly lines on the colorful paper. I made the frames from cork sheets and embroidery floss for the "hangers" over the chipboard flowers. I also snuck a little acrylic heart between the "i" and "u" in the title, so it is a double title. I love this line so much that I have a bunch more layouts sketched for it and cannot wait to use it!

Dippin' Dot Digitals on a rainy Wednesday

I cannot believe I woke up to rain!!! Despite the gray outside, Paper Popsicles Ice Cream Week keeps me looking forward to the sooner rather than later days of warm sun and cool treats. It is Dippin' Dot Digitals today and Tricia just posted an adorable project using a BRAND NEW shaped template. I simply must have this one for myself, check it out and I am sure you will agree.

I decided to use this uber cute sundae image for a layout this week. My sis works at Baskins Robbins so it was the perfect embellishment for a layout about her job.
How cool must it be to work in an ice cream shop? I personally think it would be dangerous to the waistline, but Sister has kept her girlish figure quite well.

Head over to Paper Popsicles and check out the other wonderful designs for the DT and don't forget to grab the Freebie and play along with our challenge this week!

Are you an SNR subscriber?

If you are, you may notice a layout or two from yours truly. I am so excited to announce that I had nine layouts chosen for submission! You will only see 8 as I had some trouble with the recalling the supplies I used on the ninth one, but I cannot tell you how honored I was that they chose me at all!

Come check out Scrapbook News and Review and all the incredible features they offer each month.

Monday Madness

Wow, I am still reeling from my weekend crop. Put 100 some odd scrap/paper artists in a ballroom and see what happens. Lots of creativity, more laughing than a comedy night, and not a lot of sleep is what. It will probably take me a week to recover.

Can't believe it is Moosetrack Monday again. How does that happen so fast? We have a lot of sweetness lined up for you this week, including a freebie that is so cute. Sweet images and card shapes such as this.

A very summery ice cream cone shaped card that is sure to bring a smile to the recipient's face. How can you not think of bare feet in grass and sun warmed shoulders when you look at this? Could you guess that our theme this week is ICE CREAM?

Also, please don't forget to participate in the Helmar Challenge!!! You have until Thursday, April 22 to play and win that great gift of adhesives from Helmar. And who doesn't need more adhesive? Head to the blog here to find out more details, but don't wait! Thursday will be here before you know it!

Drop down the Rabbit Hole!

We held our first ever digi day yesterday and I have to say that I thought it a (tea cup) smashing success. Paper Popsicles and Cheeky Radish have 5 challenges going on right now at SNR's Card Universe. These center around that much loved tale of Miss Alice falling into a Wonderland of characters. Each challenge will have a winner and there will be one Grand Prize winner overall. Each challenge you participate in will get your name added into our “virtual mad hatter hat”.  Do all 5 challenges, you get 5 entries, do 1 challenge you get 1 entry….  We will use random.org to pick ourGrand Prize Winner who will receive a 214 Piece Apple Jack Collection Kit, by Sassafras Lass!! (very yummy kit). You have until Monday, April 19 to complete these challenges.

In addition to that, Paper Popsicles offered a Mad Hatter shaped card freebie last night. Create a card using this image and post it here by Friday, April 21 and you may be our Scoop of the Week and featured on the blog! You will find all of the information about how to enter for the challenges and the freebie on that link.

Challenge #1 is Tea for Two: Create a card that has something in twos. For example:

On this card, there are 2 Alice images, 2 ovals, 2 ribbon pull tabs, 2 layers of scallops, and 2 colors of paper. You do not need to add that many pairs, I went a little MAD!!!

Challenge #2 is Queen of Hearts: Create a card with a NON-VALENTINE heart on it. Seriously, does this Queen strike you as the Valentine type?

Challenge #3 is the Mad Hatter's Challenge!!! And one of my personal favorites. Those of you who know my scrap style will understand this. The challenge is to create a card using at least 5 different colors.

I took this (nine) steps further and used nine different patterns of paper on my card! Yes, I would fit in nicely in Wonderland, I am sure. Pssstt...THAT is the Hatter's shaped card!!! Now tell me you don't want to play with it?

Challenge #4 is the Cheshire Cat Challenge. Fear not, no need to make your card disappear and reappear, all we ask is that your card have stripes. Something like this awesome card by the talented Lynda.

And, Challenge #5 is Through the Looking Glass, another personal favorite of mine. Your card MUST have bling on it. That's it. Here is my version.

Mr. W. Rabbit is actually behind a piece of plastic that I cut from old packaging to make an actual looking glass.

So, there you have it, our fun challenges and a peek at the really awesome Alice digis available at the store. I hope you play along with us.

It's Wednesday! Time for some Dippin' Dot Digitals!

I love the Cheeky Radish images that are for sale at the Paper Popsicles store. They are so cute and the fact that you can size them to whatever you need, color them however you want, and there is no need for storage in your scrap space, they are almost too good to be true in an artist's world.

It is our "Sew Fun" week and I had sew much fun making this card, I am going to have to make a few more that are similar. Thanks to the Paper Popsicles team, I stretched into sewing on projects and I have found a new love.

Even keeping it simple like the whipstitch along the card edge and the little "x" at each corner is a wonderful texture touch. Not sure what sentiment I will use for this card. Probably will depend on the person I decide to send it to.

Now head over to the Paper Popsicles blog and check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects. These ladies are scary talented!!! And, while you are there, check out our Birthday Tag swap. Sign ups end on Friday. Don't miss out!

"SEW" Crazy!!!

That is a good way to describe my life recently. I have been home 7 of the last 22 days. Whew! No wonder I am tired! And, no wonder I pulled a completely bonehead move and took the wrong Paper Popsicles DT project with me to Oregon. Actually, I took one right one and one wrong one. Wah-wah... So let's pretend that this isn't Tuesday, that it is actually Moosetrack Monday and the beginning of our "SEW Fun" week. Here is my attempt at sewing on a project using the super cute and versatile Crown shaped template from the Paper Popsicles store. Don't laugh. If I can do it, then there is no excuse why you can't too.

Sewing on projects is a new endeavor for me and I free handed the stitches on the red tufts. I wanted to make this card for a very special little boy I know who is having a birthday soon which is why I used primary colors. Let's just say that I can fully understand the concept of a thimble. Only I would bloody myself on something as simple as these projects. (sigh)

Moosetrack Monday at Paper Popsicles offered a really awesome new digital image, one that is perfect for getting you in the mood for summer. Think homemade pies, Grandma's quilts on new summer grass, gingham prints, and iced tea. I am not going to tell you what it is, you will have to go grab it for yourself here.

Don't forget, we also have a new weekly winner on the blog, as well as all our other fun events like Wednesday Dippin' Dot Digitals, Fudgsicle Friday, and Saturday's Slushie.

Wacky Wednesday!!!

Did you head over to Paper Popsicles on Monday to get your freebie? If not, you better get moving before it is gone. In case you haven't heard, it is Birthday Week, which is perfect for me in the month of April, as I have all those diamond kids in my life.

The big one this year is my niece, Cady-Bird, who is a repeated feature here in my blog turns ONE!!! Yes, on Saturday, she will have blessed our lives for a whole year. We are so lucky she was bestowed on us. So, for the Birthday Princess, I made this little card.

I know, of course, that the munchkin will not appreciate it until she is older, but that is okay. I tried these little paper flowers for the first time and I can't wait to try them on a larger scale. They were super easy and very cute.

So, on another note, I am going to meet one of my online scrappy pals today and I am SOOO excited!!! She has been such a support and cheerleader for me in the last year since we "met" online and I am thrilled to be meeting her in person. I am sure I will have wonderful stories to report when I get back.

Moosetrack Monday and I am still on the go!!!

It is that time again. Yes, Moosetrack Monday at Paper Popsicles, but also APRIL!!! April is a rough month in the life of Lora. I have FIVE birthdays this month! Seriously, I am in the HOV lane of birthdays. In one sense it is good to get them over with, but on the other hand, good grief!!!

So, I was "saved" that this week is Birthday Week over at the blog and I was able to play with some birthday stuff. I love projects that kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. So the first thing I have to share with you is this adorable shaped cupcake template.
How cute is that? I added a lot of sparkle and made an accordian (sp?) pleated cupcake wrapper to add a little punch to the bottom. I am not going to say which of my April babies will be receiving this just in case they are reading this. Don't forget to head over to Paper Popsicles to get your Monday freebie.

I am also blogging from sunny Arizona right now where I will be through Thursday. That doesn't mean I will be home after that. Oh no, I have many more miles left under these ol' bus treads, my friends.

Helmar/ Paper Popsicles Challenge!!!

How cool is this? Helmar has graciously offered to sponsor the Easter Layout Challenge with Paper Popsicles. If you aren't familiar with their adhesives, you should definitely look into them. (Helmar is one of Donna Downey's favorite adhesives and have you seen the things she puts together?)

Wanna win these great adhesives? Easy! Simply create a springtime layout that includes at least 3 pictures and the word spring in the title.  Your layout can be any size and 1 or 2 pages.

Link your entry to this challenge here, through Wednesday, April 21 at midnight CST. A Helmar designer will pick the winner who will be announced on Thursday, April 22.

*Also, Paper Popsicles is hosing a birthday tag swap. Tags are something we all use and using a handmade one is such a nice touch. Don't miss out on this swap! While you are over there, check out the April blog candy. If you are a sticker alpha nut like myself, you will REALLY want to see it.
